Lumps

Grump Lumps is an NFT project that allowed me to explore and develop new skills across multiple disciplines, including illustration, Web3 technology, web design, and UI/UX. Driven by my passion for learning through hands-on experience, I built the entire project from the ground up—illustrating the NFT characters, coding the website, and integrating smart contracts for seamless crypto art purchases.

Overview

The project began with character design for Grump Lumps, a quirky series of unique, illustrated digital collectibles. Through this process, I deepened my understanding of digital illustration techniques while maintaining a cohesive and playful aesthetic across the collection.

By merging illustration with the technical aspects of Web3 and web development, Grump Lumps provided a comprehensive platform for me to expand my skillset. This project was a pivotal learning experience that allowed me to bring together creativity and emerging technologies in a fully realized, functional NFT project.

Key Components

  • Illustration: I designed and illustrated each Grump Lump character, combining creativity with digital tools to bring personality and uniqueness to each piece in the NFT collection.
  • Web Design & UI/UX: I developed a user-friendly, responsive website where users could browse, explore, and purchase NFTs. I focused on delivering an engaging experience by optimizing the user interface and ensuring intuitive navigation.
  • Web3 & Smart Contracts: I self-taught the basics of blockchain technology and smart contracts, enabling me to implement secure, transparent, and decentralized transactions. This integration allowed users to buy NFTs directly through the website using cryptocurrency.

CHALLENGE

Though I had quite some experience with coding and staging websites, writing and integrating smart contracts was a new world to me. Though challenging, I was determined to figure out how to write, test and deploy smart contracts.

Solution

By deep-diving in the code, watching tutorials, learning to understand and excessive testing, I was able to build and deploy a web3 website that allowed for users to interact with and purchase NFT art.
