Scavenger

Quest

Scavenger Quest is a college project that provided valuable hands-on experience with UI/UX design, user testing, and app interface creation. As a second-year duo project, we had the freedom to choose the type of interface to design after being given a specific collection and target audience to focus on. This flexibility allowed us to explore creative solutions while ensuring they catered to the needs of real users.

Overview

The project involved several stages, including wireframing, prototyping, and iterative design based on feedback from user testing. We conducted multiple rounds of user testing, gathering feedback to refine the interface and improve the overall user experience. This process required us to make critical design decisions and balance aesthetics with functionality, ensuring the app was both visually appealing and intuitive to navigate.

Scavenger Quest was a pivotal project that deepened my understanding of interface design, taught me how to prioritize user needs, and emphasized the importance of testing and iteration in the design process.

Key Components

  • UI/UX Design: The app's interface was designed with a focus on simplicity and engagement, ensuring that users could easily navigate through the scavenger hunt features.
  • User Testing: We conducted usability tests with real users, analyzing their interactions and identifying pain points. This feedback was crucial in making data-driven design iterations.
  • Design Iterations: Based on user experience insights, we made several iterations to improve the flow, usability, and overall experience of the app. This helped us understand the importance of user-centered design and adapting to real-world feedback.

CHALLENGE

Working on a project that needs to reflect the expectations of a target audience meant that these had to be thoroughly tested. Having no experience with user testing was a challenge that needed to be overcome, especially when these needed to be correctly interpreted and applied.

Solution

In order to meet the expectations of the target audience, we included them in the building of the user-interface. We went out a couple of times to test out different iterations based on user feedback. Different aspects of the UI design were tested: Design, Colors, Flow, Functionality, and Entertaining vs Knowledgeable.
